The brothers

Brothers Brian and John Sparger were introduced to music at a young age by their father (Chicago born jazz pianist and classical conductor Dennis Sparger who currently helms the baton for the Bach Society of St. Louis) and lovingly nurtured by their biggest cheerleader (German born mother, Helene Gottschling Sparger).

Piano lessons started at age eight, adding in saxophone a couple years later. Guitars were introduced during high school where they shared their first stage together. In the following years, Brian sharpened his skills on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, while John began acting at the University of Illinois. Soon he would be performing locally, regionally, and in national tours eventually ending up in Los Angeles. A feature film, TV pilot, and various projects followed – including his book, Stories from the Asphalt.

Music, however, has always been a part of their lives. For close to forty years, Brian and John have played in various bands together and with others culminating in their current project: Brother Sparg.
